BANGOR – John P. Balzer, Sr., 82, died Sunday at Ridgeview Manor nursing home, Kalamazoo. He was the father of John P. Balzer, Jr., principal of Bangor High School.

Survivors include his wife, the former Anna Siemens; a daughter, Miss Bernice Balzer, Nigeria, Africa; three sons, John P., Jr., Bangor, Rubin, Pleasant Hill, Calif., Elsworth, Liberia, Africa; two brothers, Abe, Mountain Lake, Minn., Albert, Africa; and three sisters, Mrs. Maria Wiens, Reedley, Calif., Miss Sara and Miss Susie Balzer, both of Mountain Lake, Minn.

He was a member of Bethel Baptist church, Kalamazoo.

Visitation at McKane funeral home, Bangor, will be this evening. Visitation on Tuesday will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Bethel Baptist church, Kalamazoo. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, at 10 a.m., at Arlington Hill cemetery, Bangor.

Memorials may be made to Mission Radio Station, Liberia, Africa, in the care of the funeral home or John Balzer, Jr.
