Melcena Ethel "Betty" Lipscomb, 90, Dixon, died Saturday at Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla. She was born Aug. 3, 1901, in Miller County, a daughter of Andrew T. and Roxie Josephine Denton Abbott.

On June 8, 1918, she was married at Jefferson City to Stanley Evans. On Nov. 9, 1929, she was married at St. Louis to Homer W. Lipscomb, who died Oct. 10, 1968.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Dixon, and the Homemakers Sunday School Class. She was a member of the VFW Aixiliary, Crocker. She retired from Brown Shoe Co., Dixon, after 20 years in 1963.

Survivors include: a son, James H. Evans, Clinton, Ill.; a daughter, Hortence S. Humphrey, Kansas City; two brothers, Raymond Abbott, New Bloomfield, and Thomas Abbott, Osage Beach; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon, with the Rev. Edward E. Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Dixon Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. todayand 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church, Dixon.
