Harry was born about 1766 probably in Virginia. (In 1880 his son, Henry Jr lists his father's birthplace as VA).

Unknown who his parents were or where they came from.

Abt 1783 Harry married Elizabeth Malissa "Lissey" Counts, daug of John and Mary Magdaline Counts who were living in Shenandoah Co, VA. Harry and Lissey were probably married in Shenandoah Co, VA but no record has been found.

In 1787 they moved to Russell Co, VA (on the west end of the state) with the Counts family. Russell Co had been organized in 1786 and was still a dangerous place to live with frequent Indian raids until 1794. They lived in the area called Castle's Woods.

Feb 1, 1791, Henry surveyed 68 acres on the south side of Copper Ridge (in Russell Co. 5 miles south of the Clinch River, abt 3 miles SSE of Castlewood.)
Mar 18, 1791 Joseph & Susannah Kiser conveyed to Henry Willard 25 acres on the Clinch River (deed recorded Oct 22, 1791), where Martin was born in 1793.
1795, Henry owned 75 acres in Russell Co, Va.
Mar 11, 1798 Henry & Elizabeth sold their 35 acres on the Clinch River in Russell Co, Va. to Abraham Childress.
John Counts' will of 1803 lists his daughter Malissa's son, Martin Willard.

About 1798-1800 they moved to NW Kentucky to Breckinridge Co. (on Tax lists 1803-1811). Henry owned 100 acres there. (There was a younger Henry Wilyard in the country from PA).

In 1820 Henry had disappeared from KY records. Not sure if Henry died in KY, but the family seems to have moved to Indiana, maybe as early as 1816. (One of his possible daughters may have married in Harrison Co, IN in 1813).
Some of them settled in Spencer Co, Ind. (abt 30 miles west of Harrison Co) and this is where the family knew Abe Lincoln's family. Because there are family stories coming down from different parts of the family, of Abe splitting logs and wrestling with Martin (b1793) and James (b1804), I tend to believe the legend that Abe was born earlier than the official 1809.
In Spencer Co, Ind (where son James was married), that family attended the same church as the Lincoln family (Little Pigeon Creek Baptist Church). The Lincoln family moved to IL in 1830 and the Willard boys were in Cape Girardeau Co, Mo by then.

Not sure when Henry died, must have been in Indiana, probably abt 1818-1820.

Possible list of children:
1. SARAH, b abt 1785, prob Shenandoah Co, VA; marrried John Wooten, 1807 in Clay Co, Ky (her father Henry Willard). John Wooten was next to Henry Willard in the 1810 census.
