Funeral services for Effie Maine Rowe Turbyfill, Sayre, who died Sunday in the Sayre hospital were held Tuesday in the Sayre Freewill Baptist church at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Clyde Hammer and Rev. J.L. VanWinkle officiating.
Mrs. Turbyfill was born March 25, 1884 in Louisville, Kentucky and in 1902 was married to James Rowe at Watonga. After his death in 1947 she married Hullum Turbyfill. She came to Oklahoma with her parents as a small child and settled near Hennesey and came to Beckham county in 1941 and has resided there since.
She was preceded in death by her husband and one son.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Edith Barber of Cheyenne, Mrs. Thelma Calhoun of Oklahoma City, and Mrs. Juanita Shaw, Snyder; three brothers, Leslie Thomas, Beaver City, Jimmie Thomas, of California and Mack Thomas, Covina, California; two sisters, Maggie Bates of Corvalis, Oregon, Mrs. Ella Ashley, Corvalis, California; 14 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
Burial was in the Sayre Doxey Cemetery with Moore Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Lloyd Martin, Frank Barber, Wayne Barber, Joe Merritt, Carl Brown and Harley Blundell.
