Amy McAffee DeCoria Rice, age 91, passed away March 8, 2016 surrounded by family. Amy was born June 3, 1924 in Darlington, ID to Albert and Phemia McAffee. She was married to Fred DeCoria in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on June 20, 1941. After Fred’s passing she met and married Donald I. Rice in Pasco on January 1, 1996.

Amy managed the INEL cafeteria in Idaho Falls, ID for many years. After moving to Othello, WA Amy was a successful Tupperware manager for many years and then managed the Othello Senior Citizen’s Center preparing the senior citizens meals as well as doing other catering. Amy and Fred, after their retirements, served an LDS mission in Louisville, KY. They moved to Pasco, WA to be closer to their children. Amy was an avid bowler, hockey fan and loved to dance. Amy was a beautiful, independent, strong and loving woman who loved to cook, paint, quilt, sew and enjoy life. Amy loved people and giving hugs as she was such a caring, loving person.

She was predeceased by one son, Earl, her parents, and three brothers: Melvin, Kenneth, and Clayton McAffee. She is survived by 10 children: Janice (Bill) Barney, Kennewick, WA, Fred (Shauna) DeCoria, Kennewick, Galyn (Debbie) DeCoria, Idaho Falls, ID, Jolene (Les) Nemec, Purlear, NC, and Darlene (John) Hurliman, Spokane, WA. She is also survived by stepchildren Rebecca (Hurshal) Skidmore, Long Beach, CA, Mike (Tori) Rice, Seattle, WA, Rev. Pastor Marc (Janet) Rice, Montesano, WA, Rob (Karen) Rice, Olympia, WA, and Carl (Amy) Rice of Kennewick, sister Althea (Ray) Stewart, brothers John (Virginia) McAffee and Merlin (Karen) McAffee, all of Idaho Falls, 21 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be held Friday, March 11th, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at Mueller’s Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union Street, Kennewick. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 12th, 1:00 p.m., at the LDS Union Chapel, 515 S. Union Street, Kennewick with viewing beginning at 12:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Amy’s name to Hospice.
