Benny Becton was 76 years old when he passed away at the South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was the son of the late James Riley and Annie Jewell Becton. Mr. Becton had a 42 year career in banking and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Perimeter Road Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Harriett Shierling Becton of Valdosta; 2 sons, Bennett Becton of Marietta, Stephen Becton of Valdosta; one daughter and son in law Becky and Sam Dulaney of Hartwell; 2 grandchildren, Bennett Dulaney of Valdosta and Whitney Byerly of Peoria, Arizona; 2 great grandchildren, Gracie Anne Byerly and Allie Christen Byerly; 2 brothers and sisters in law, Alton and Betty Becton, Julian and Pat Becton of Valdosta. He was preceded in death by one brother, Lavelle Becton. funeral services were held on Wed., Sept. 13th at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. The Rev. Sam Dulaney of Hartwell officiated. Burial followed at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
