Julian Hardy Becton

Julian Hardy Becton, 78, passed away Thursday, July 5, 2007, after a lengthy illness. He was born on January 23, 1929 in Valdosta to the late James Riley and Annie Jewel Barwick Becton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 33 years. He was an avid wood worker and loved working with his hands. He was a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Patricia Harden Becton; one son, Kevin Becton of Atlanta; two daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Bob McCall of Valdosta and Lynne and Alfredo Arguelles of Miami, Fla.; four grandchildren, Sara Lynn and Matt McCall of Valdosta, Luis and Nicholas Arguelles of Miami; one brother and sister-in-law, Alton and Betty Becton; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Harriett Becton, Peggy and Ross Hudson, Richard and Jo Harden, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bennie and Lavelle Becton.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2007, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Reverend Lance Kindred and Mr. Bob McCall officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens.
