Funeral Held

Funeral services for Charlton
H. Blitch, 63, of Homerville were
held Saturday afternoon 2:00
o’clock, from the Homerville Unit-
ed Methodist Church, of which he
was a member. Interment was in
Pine Forest Cemetery here.

Mr. Blitch died Thursday last
week in Clinch Memorial Hospital
after a sudden illness. He was a
native of Blitchton, Ga., but lived
most of his life in Homerville. He
was the younger son of the late
Brooks E. and Blanche Drawdy
Blitch of Homerville. He was a li-
censed druggist but never follow-
ed the profession except for a
short while in Pearson. He was a
longtime dealer in deer tongue,
hides, and other items, and years
ago was a railroad cross-tie dealer.

He was predeceased by his wife
of 27 years, Stella Frances “Frankie”
(Smith) Blitch, who passed away
just over four years ago on October
30, 1968.

Survivors include his present widow,
Janette Sistrunk Blitch of Homer-
ville; a son, Charlton H. Blitch Jr.
of Homerville; two daughters, Mrs.
Ronald (Pat) Hickson of Atlanta,
Mrs. Ben (Shirley) Sowell of Bir-
mingham, Ala.; a sister, Mrs. Char-
les (Eloise) Hooper of Athens, Ga.,
a step daughter and three grand-
children.

Officiating at the funeral was
the pastor Rev. Curtis Tillman.
Active pallbearers were Mesers.
Shasta McCrannie, Reva C. Christo-
pher, Harry James, E. K. Avriett
Jr., W. B. Walton Jr., and Ashley
Carswell. Honorary pallbearers
were Messrs. Leland Smith, Ehrlee
Smith, Joe Lancaster, Morell Hen-
derson, Rev. Alton Smith, George
C. Wood, Clyde King, Floyd Allen,
Dr. D. B. Terry, Dr. Lewis Chis-
holm, Jesse Stalvey, Grover Lee,
W. F. (Red) Gibbs, Fred Black-
ledge, G. C. Hughes Jr., Estyl
Smith, and George Peagler. Music
Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
