ELK PARK - Funeral services for Grant William Stansbury, 61 of Beech Creek, who died Tuesday in a Banner Elk Hospital after a lingering illness, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.
The Rev. D. M. Jones and the Rev. Lawrence Hagie will officiate, and burial will be in the church cemetery.
He was a farmer and lifelong resident of the Beech Creek community.
His wife, Mrs. Cassie Cook Stansbury, died 31 years ago. He was a member of the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Tom Stansbury of Jefferson City, Tenn., and James Stansbury of Zionville; two daughters, Mrs. Raymond Steppe of Elizabethton, Tenn., and Mrs. Charles Sparks of Norfolk, Va.; brothers, Coy of Marion, Va., Earl of Elizabethton, Tenn., and Charles of Johnson City, Tenn.; four sisters, Mrs. Hannah Cannon of Saltville, Va., Mrs. Martha Eggers of Heaton, Mrs. Rachel Eggers of Canton, Ohio; and Mrs. D.C. Cook of Whaley; and 12 grandchildren.
Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home is in charge.
