Per his death certificate found on Ancestry.com: he was a son of Jim Sports and Janie Carrbow, and the husband of Lizzie Williams. He was a retired carpenter. He resided at 2019 Pulaski Street and died there of chr. myocarditis with acute myocardial failure. The informant was Mrs. Lizzie W. Sports of the same address. His DOB is given as March 22, 1886.

He is married to Lizzie Williams Sports and resides at 1719 Williams St., Columbia, SC.

Conflict: his WWI Draft Registration Card lists his middle name as Harold, and gives a DOB as March 25, 1880. He is a car repairman for the A. C. L. RR. There is an X for his mark and it is likely signed by the person who filled out the card, and likely misheard his middle name.

Found in The State 12 June 1957: James T. Sports, 74, a retired carpenter of 2019 Pulaski Street, died suddenly at his home yesterday. He was born in Marlboro County, the son of the late Jim and Janie Carrbow Sports. He had made his home here for the past 53 years and was a member of the Full Salvation Baptist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Lizzie Williams Sports of Columbia; two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Metts and Mrs. Mollie Bethea, both of Columbia; one niece and three nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon from the Full Salvation Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. L. F. Steele, pastor. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
