Carl Dean Blackman Sr., age 69, of Navarre, Fla., died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006, at his home.
Mr. Blackman was a lifelong resident of Northwest Florida and of the Protestant faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he drove Higgins boats and performed troop transports. He was employed at Hurlburt Field from 1973 to 1996.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Mary Ellen Blackman; son, Carl Dean Blackman Jr. and his wife Star; daughter, Marsha Lippincott and husband Phillip; brother, Larry Blackman and wife Diane; sisters, Kathy Parsons and husband Hal, and Pat Wingate and husband Tony; six grandchildren; and a huge extended family.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, at Lewis Funeral Home, Navarre Chapel, with the Revs. Carl Gallops, Greg Robards, Jack Goldfarb and Jimmy Reinhart officiating. Burial will be in Whitmire Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla.
