Dorothy L. Durkheimer

A memorial service was held Friday for Dorothy L. Durkheimer of Southwest Portland. She died of causes related to her age Thursday in her home. She was 97.

Mrs. Durkheimer was born June 11, 1895, in Portland, where she attended Couch School and Lincoln High School. Her maiden name was Lowenson [sic].

After her marriage in 1919 to Sylvan Durkheimer, Mrs. Durkheimer worked as a homemaker. She was a member of the Council of Jewish Women and of Congregation Beth Israel, where she was active in the Sisterhood. Her husband died in 1984.

Survivors include her sons, James and Stuart, both of Portland; daughters, Eloise Spiegel and Marian Jaffe, both of Portland; 14 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests remembrances be contributions to a favorite charity.
