Helen was born on December 4, 1932, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to William Delbert and Ivy May Grover. Helen grew up in Rigby, and graduated from Rigby High School in 1951.
On September 27, 1950, she married Richard T Bowles in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They were blessed with five children. On July 3, 1959, while they were camping at Palisades Reservoir, Dick died in a boating accident. On August 9, 1960, Helen married Floyd R Bowles in Idaho Falls. They were blessed with three children. They raised their family in the Idaho Falls area.
In 1981 they moved to Moscow, Idaho, where Helen and Floyd attended the University of Idaho. She earned her Bachelors of the Arts in Education from the University of Idaho in 1986. Helen taught school while Floyd worked for the University of Idaho. After Floyd retired in 2002, they returned to Idaho Falls to enjoy their family.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held numerous positions throughout her life.
She enjoyed reading, music and spending time with her family.
Helen was a loving, compassionate wife, mother and grandmother. Her family was very important to her and she loved being with them.
She is survived by her husband, Floyd R. Bowles, of Idaho Falls, ID; her daughters: Marie (Tom) Larson, of Chubbuck, ID, Della (Terry) Julius, of Shelley, ID, Kathy Carone, of Phoenix, AZ, Helen (Jack) Scott, of Shelley, ID, Shawna (Joel) Yuill, of Spokane, WA; her sons: Richard (Kathy) Bowles, of West Jordan, UT, Wade (Brenda) Bowles, of Spokane, WA, Kay Dean (Denise) Bowles, of Richland, WA; her sisters: Idona (Orland) Baron, of Rigby, ID and Verda (Neldon) Marshall, of Shelley, ID; 22 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard T Bowles; her parents, William Delbert and Ivy May Grover; her brothers: Justin Grover, Merlin Grover, Daniel Grover, Melvin Grover; her sisters: Bertha Womack, Leora Thompson, and Lila Anderson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 12, 2016, at the Brookview LDS Ward Chapel, 1925 East 49th South, Idaho Falls, with Bishop Ryan Meikle officiating. The family will visit with friends and family from 6-8:00 p.m., Friday, March 11, 2016, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Interment will be at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery in Idaho Falls.
