He was born in Mineral Twp, Venango County, per 1893-1905 Death Index, was married, a grocer, died Jun 16 1905 of heart failure at home, 1814 Otter St, Franklin.

Oil City Derrick, Saturday, Jun 17 1905:
Franklin, June 17 -- John Elmer Adams, 60, died suddenly at his home here at 10:45 pm of heart disease. He had been ailing since last February, but his condition was not considered critical. His attending physician called 20 minutes before his death and, in leaving, announced to the family that the patient's condition was not worse than usual. Soon thereafter Mr. Adams heart action became weak and his death ensued.

He was one of Franklin's best citizens, active in local politics, a Democrat with the respect of members of both parties, honest in all his business dealings and devoted to his family.

He was born in Mineral Township, and his father was John Adams, at one time sheriff of the county. During his term in office, while John Elmer was a young man, he removed to Franklin with his family, and since that time until his death, John Elmer lived here. For some years he was engaged in the grocery business, and was postmaster at Franklin under both Mr. Cleveland's administrations. When his term expired, he again engaged in the grocery business, from which he recently retired on account of ill health.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Harry Adams; and a daughter, Mrs. Baron J. Forsythe, of Franklin; a brother and sister, W. S. Adams of Polk, and Mrs. W. F. Whitaker of Franklin.

Funeral arrangements were not complete tonight.
