SAN ANGELO — John Delbert Mobley passed from this life Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006, at the age of 93. J.D. was born to John Morgan Mobley and Adella Mobley, Nov. 19, 1913. He was married to Francis Oneita Rice Dec. 2, 1935, in Eden, Texas. She preceded him in death in 1993.
Graveside service with Masonic rites will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, at the Mertzon Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Fox officiating.

J.D. and Oneita met while working at the T.B. Sanatorium in Carlsbad where he managed the dairy. A few years later they moved from Carlsbad, house and all, to San Angelo where he worked for Foremost. Later in his life they moved to Abilene where he was employed by Gandy's. He and Oneita moved back to San Angelo where he worked at Concho Buick for his son and then retired to live on the ranch at Mertzon.

J.D. is survived by his favorite daughter-in-law, Maxine Mobley of San Angelo; a grandson, Michael Todd Mobley of Midland and one sister, Patricia Steck and her husband, Al, of Wilmington, N.C. He was preceded in death by his wife, Oneita; his son, John Donald Mobley; two brothers and four sisters.

J.D. was a devout Christian and lived his life in a very Christian way. He was a devoted husband to Oneita and cared for her lovingly through more than thirteen years of Alzheimer's. He was a Master Mason for 66 years.

The family thanks the Regency House and its employees for the care he received the past years. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Meals for the Elderly or a charity of your choice.
