J.T. Vaden, 93, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 6, 2000, in Cumberland Medical Center.

Mr. Vaden was born Dec. 23, 1906, the son of James Thomas and Della Jared Vaden.

He was an original Homesteader, a retired merchant and a member of Homestead Baptist Church.

Survivors include his son, Solon Vaden of Powell, TN; daughter, Bonnie Sue Gibson of Crossville; brother, James C. Vaden of Nashville; sister, Agnes Bertram of Monterey, TN; 14 grandchildren; and 46 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Smith Vaden; an infant daughter, Bertha Marie; and two sons, Doyle T. Vaden and Lavon S. Vaden.

Funeral services were conducted Aug. 8 from the chapel of Burris Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dan Haskins officiating. Burial was Aug. 9, at 1 p.m. at Whittaker Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Chris Vaden, Mike Vaden, Steve Vaden, Joel Vaden, Philip Vaden, Randy Vaden, Bobby Vaden, Joel Green and Delane Sidwell. Honorary pallbearers were Sid Hedgecoth, Robert Couch and Bruce Howard.
Burris Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
