Actor, Police Officer. He was a real life member of the Detroit Police Department who gained recognition by playing the role of Inspector Douglas Todd in the "Beverly Hills Cop" movie trilogy. He joined the United States Air Force in 1950 and was stationed at Selfridge Air Force Base near Detroit. After leaving the Air Force, he stayed in the Detroit area and joined first the county sheriff department and then the city's police department where he would serve for the next 30 years. While with the police department, he got the role to play Inspector Todd in the first "Beverly Hills Cop" movie and would play the same role in the two other "Beverly Hills Cop" movies. After retiring from the police force, he was elected to the city council and served as president of that government body. He also served as an advisor to Detroit Mayor Coleman Young and ran an unsuccessful mayoral campaign.
