Headline: Funderburk Rites Set Wednesday

Funeral services for Minor M. Funderburk Sr., 79, of 900 Eason Place, Monroe, will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Parkview Baptist Church with the Rev. George Gaston officiating, assisted by the Rev. Harold Hughens and Dr. Thomas Welch. Burial will follow at Monroe Memorial Park Mausoleum under direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Monroe.

He died Monday at St. Francis Hospital after a long illness. Mr. Funderburk was a native of Hico, residing in Sterlington for 48 years before moving to Monroe in 1973. He was a graduate of the Louisiana State University and past state president of the Louisiana Electrical Engineering Society and a member of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers.

He was employed with Louisiana Power and Light Co. until his retirement in 1965. A charter member of First Baptist Church of Sterlington, he served as deacon and church clerk for 45 years. He was also a member of Parkview Baptist Church and Cretney Masonic Lodge in Sterlington. He served as a Boy Scout Troop Leader for several years.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Eva Vern May Funderburk of Monroe; two sons, Dr. Max M. Funderburk Jr. and Dr. Joe G. Funderburk, both of Monroe; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Sonny Smith, Glenn Laney, Ralph Pritcher, Dr. Walter J. Ernst, Dr. Herbert Mayo, Dr. Mark Price, Jerry Webster, and W. A. (Dub) Albritton. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Sunday School Class at Parkview.

The family request that any planned memorials be made to the Louisiana Baptist Childrens Home or the American Cancer Society.
