Funeral services for James T. (Jim) Burnett will be on Monday, February 29, 2016 at Brookhaven Funeral Home (894 Natchez Drive) at 11 AM with burial at Rose Memorial Park Cemetery in Hammond, LA at 2 PM. Visitation will be at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Monday, February 29, 2016 from 9 AM till 11 AM. Brookhaven Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Burnett, 87, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2016 at Pine Crest Nursing Home in Halzehurst, MS. He was born on April 30, 1928 in Bothwell, MS to James Thomas Burnett and Annie Bell Walley Burnett. He was of the Catholic faith. He loved music. He was retired from Phillip Brothers Lumber Company where he worked as a foreman there as well as other various sawmill locations.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wives Carnetta Chestnutt Burnett and Donzie Mae Crain Burnett; daughter Cindy Fortenberry, and two sisters.
Survivors are his daughters, Pat Bordelon of Marksville, LA, Terri Spurk and husband Scott of Madison, MS, Pam Whittington and husband Whit of Crystal Springs, MS, Tommie Jean Hart and husband Mike of Wesson, MS, Donna Marie Davis and husband John of Brookhaven, Peggy Riddell of Morrilton, Ark, and Cathy Rogers of Laurel, MS; sons Donnie Burnett and wife Ellen of LA and Earl Wood and wife Cynthia of Laurel, MS; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a special cousin Tim Burnett.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Presston McDonnell, Dr. Murphy Martin, Pine Crest Nursing Home and all involved in caring for our Dad.
