John Ensign

John Dale Ensign, 51, was born March 24, 1902, in Salt Lake City, a son of J. W. and Florence Hughes Ensign. Since 1950, he had been manager of the bank loan department of the Commercial Security Bank.

On June 29, 1927, he married Clare Hinckley, a daughter of Ira and Lillian King Hinckley, of Salt Lake City. He belonged to the Sigma Chi fraternity and graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in engineering.

For a period of 15 years he was employed by the Commercial Credit Co., working for the company in Boise, Idaho, Salt Lake City and Portland, Ore. In the latter two cities he held the position of business and office manager.

In 1942, during World War II, he went to work in Portland for Columbia Aircraft as personnel manager and business relations manager. He was engaged in real estate business in Portland, between 1945 and 1950, moving to Ogden in 1950, where he has since been with Commercial Security Bank.

He was a lieutenant-colonel and air inspector of the Utah Wing, civil air patrol, and a member of the Ogden Amateur Radio Club.

Surviving are his widow, two sons and one daughter; Lt. (jg) John Dale Ensign, 2nd., stationed aboard the Navy tanker USS Guadalupe; Roger H. Ensign, an electronics student at the Naval Air Corps, Memphis, Tenn.; Caroylon Ensign, Ogden; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Ensign, Salt Lake City; two brothers and two sisters; Paul H. and Hugh S. Ensign; Mrs. W. E. (Marjorie) Lay, and Mrs. Monte (Louise) Busby, all of Salt Lake City.

Funeral arrangements are in charge of Lindquist and Sons Mortuary.
