Delmar M. Mayer, 58, of 211 Jefferson St, died unexpectedly at 2:45 p.m. Monday in Marion General Hospital.
He was born June 11, 1922, in Peoria and lived Marion 39 years, coming here from Meeker.
Before retiring 10 years ago, he worked 32 years as a superindent for the Ohio Highway Department.
He was an Air Force veteran of World War II, a member of Epworth Uniterd Methodist Church, Eagles and Moose lodges and American Legion Post 162.
On Sept. 7, 1940, he was married in Greenup, KY. to Jean Coy Mayer , who survives witg 2 sons, Fred Mayer of Columbus and Wayne Mayer of Marion, a sister , Mrs. Elmer (Florine) Berry of Byhalia, and 3 grandchildren. Two daughters deceased.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.pm. Friday in Epworth United Methodist Church by the Rev. James Trainer. Burial will be in Marion Cemetery.
He will be taken from Boyd Funeral Home late Wednesday to his Jefferson Street home, where friends may call after 7 p.m. and to the church at noon Friday, where friends may call until time of service.
