Sadie T. Allen, age 90, of Delano Street, Mount Vernon went to be with her Lord on Saturday February 21, 2004 at her granddaughter's residence. She was born on September 27, 1913 in Wayne County, West Virginia to the late Wade and Jinnie (Hayton) Thompson. Sadie was a member of the Newark Road Church of Christ. She had worked as a half parent for Ohio Soldiers and Sailors Home both in Mount Vernon and Xenia.
She is survived by a daughter Deloris (Donald) Ivers of Columbus, son-in-law Elmer Tomblin of Sparta, step-son, Zollie (Judy) Lawhon Jr. of Glenwood, WV, step-daughter, Nell White of Mount Airy, NC, eleven grandchildren, Terry and Lori Tomblin, Debbie Snow, Timothy Tomblin, Jerry Tomblin, Elmer Tomblin Jr., Sam Tomblin, Cora and Eric Schirtzinger, Jennifer and Paul Beach, Peggy Kraft, David Kraft, and Steven Ivers, twenty six great grandchildren, thirteen great-great grandchildren, two sisters, Pearl Bailey of Florida, Edna Simpson of West Monroe, LA and a host of nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Zollie Lawhon Sr., her second husband, Robert Allen, two daughters, Helen Arlene Lawhon, Genevieve Tomblin, three sisters, Zula Artrip, Bertha Gibson, Erie Estham, three brothers, Taylor Thompson, Charlie Thompson and Boyd Thompson.
