Captain 7th Missouri Infantry

CAPTAIN SAMUEL SIMPSON PATTON

Served under Col. Joseph C. Porter in the 1st Northeast Missouri Cavalry Regiment, replacing Capt. John Quincy Adams Clements, who was killed in action.

The 1st NE Missouri Cavalry was later consolidated with the 2d NE Missouri Cavalry to become the 7th Missouri Infantry Regiment under Col. Cyrus Franklin.

Capt. Patton was born 22 Jun 1832 in County Tyrone, Ireland, and arrived in the USA with his family in 1841, proceeding directly to Shelby County.

Capt. Patton married Sarah Amanda Peoples on 28 Oct 1858 in Hagers Grove, MO and had 11 children by her.

Following the death of his first wife, Capt. Patton married Mary Atchison Stutt on 22 Jan 1884 and had two more daughters.

Capt. Patton died on 3 Aug 1888
