Bob L. Fry
05 September 1936 - 17 February 2016

Bob L. Fry, age 79, Carl Junction, passed away at 11:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Galena Nursing Center after an illness.

Bob was born September 5, 1936 in Ottawa County, Oklahoma to the late Jesse Fry and Virgie Morton Fry and had lived in the Joplin area most of his life.

He worked as a dispatcher at Yellow Freight in Baxter Springs, Kansas for 42 years, retiring in 1997.

Following his retirement, Bob became part of the Baxter Springs Coffee Clan where they played quarters every weekday, an entertainment to say the least to all patrons wherever the 'clan' was gathered.

Bob was a member of the Elk's Lodge #501 and an integral part of the Marcum Drag Racing Team. He was known for cleaning the race cars up at the end of the race day until there wasn't one piece of dirt or smudge left on them. He was always happy to see Big Lee, Jordyn, Lee IV and Jenna pull into the pits so he could give them a thumbs up if they won or encouragement if they lost.

His next love were his dogs. At one time, he had five dogs that he took care of and treated just like they were his kids. They never came in the house without a treat for being a 'good dogger'.

Other than God and knowing he would be going to Heaven when he left this earth, Bob's love of his family was primary in his life and what he could do for them. He was the most giving and helpful man on earth. He of course helped family anytime he could but it didn't matter who it was, Bob would offer to help anyone.

He is survived by his longtime companion of 19 years, Judy Marcum, Carl Junction; one brother, Jesse Fry and his wife, Syble, Baxter Springs; three sisters, Eleanor Moncrief, Baxter Springs, Barbara Cook and her husband, Bob, Carl Junction, Linda Elliott, Midland, Texas; step-children, Lee Marcum III and his wife, Laura, Jill Gundy and her husband, Jason; and grandchildren, Jordyn Capra, Lee Marcum IV and Jenna Capra.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a son, Robbie Fry and two brothers, Jack and Fred.

Services are planned for Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Claude Craig will officiate.

Interment will follow at Lowell Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Pallbearers will be Johnny Delmont, James Dawson, Larry Radford, Dean Auman, Cary Hayward and Russell Fry. Honorary pallbearers will be Bud Johnson and Don Weston.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Joplin Humane Society, in care of Parker Mortuary.

Bob has touched so many people's lives in his lifetime. He had a knack for doing the funniest things that he didn't even try to do. He had the greatest smile and laugh and his memory will never fade because there will always be a story about Bob to tell. He loved and he WAS loved so very much.
