When Mrs. John Henry, wife of the well known engineer, retired at her home on 633 North Locust street Tuesday night, she was in the best of health and spirits. Yesterday morning she was dead, mourned by numerous friends shocked to learn of her sudden and altogether unexpected demise, which occurred during the night. Shortly before midnight Mrs. Henry was taken ill with convulsions and before medical aid could come to her assistance she expired. Death was said at first to have been due to cramps but later in the day rumors were circulated throughout the town that Mrs. Henry died from the effects of poison self administered. A reporter investigation and ascertained that the convulsions were caused by an overdose of oil of tansey, the vial having been found near the deceased lady's side yesterday morning. It was purely an accidental overdose and Deputy Coroner Bowman, who was notified, did not, therefore, deem an inquest necessary.
Mrs. Henry, born 33 years ago, was a native of Jeanesville. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bailey, of Audenreid, and former manager Bailey of Ayres' store. She has resided in various towns throughout the region where she was well and favorably known. Mrs. Henry was a lady of sterling qualities which made her esteemed and popular with everyone with whom she came in contract. She was a devoted wife and mother, whose first duty was the attention of home interests. Her sudden taking off is deeply deplored by a large circle of friends and acquaintances.
She is survived by her husband and six children, Howard, Gerald, Gussie, Charles, Russel and Burnice.
A sad feature of her death is the fact that Tuesday was the thirteenth anniversary of the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Henry, the event being quietly celebrated during the day and evening.
