Ruth Ann Hall, 95, former Clerk-Treasurer of Lizton, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 1992 in the Brownsburg Health Care Center. A daughter of Ora and Fannie (Leach) Leak, she was born June 6, 1897 at Lizton. On Nov. 17, 1919, she was married to Oscar B. Hall, who preceded her in death on July 29, 1944. Mrs. Hall had been the Lizton Clerk-Treasurer 25 years, retiring in 1979. Previously she had worked at the State Bank of Lizton for 20 years. She was a member of the Lizton Christian Church, Pittsboro Order of the Eastern Star, the Lizton American Legion Auxiliary, the Hendricks County Historical Society, the Hendricks County DAR and the Hendricks Community Hospital Guild. Services were Saturday, Nov. 7, 1992 in the Lizton Christian Church. Rev. Vernon Stoner Jr. officiated with burial in the Lizton K. of P. Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home, Jamestown, was in charge of calling and arrangements.

Surviving are three daughters: JoAnne Eli, Danville, Virginia; Mary Frances Fax, The Dalles, Oregon and Ruth Marie Hill, Bishop, California; son, Don Alan Hall, Corvalis, Oregon; sisters Sarah Elizabeth and Mary Jane Leak, both of Montana; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Jane Miller, and one sister, Elsie Brengle.

Ruth's ancestors were among the earliest settlers of Union Township. She helped preserve the township's history through a book she coauthored with her son in 1983 titled So Brief a Frontier detailing pioneer life through vignettes about her ancestors. She also coauthored an article with her son in the Indiana Magazine of History on the cholera epidemic that struck Lizton and Union Township in 1873.
