Sharon Ann Binder, 71, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2016 in Boise, Idaho.

Sharon was born August 25, 1944 in Douglas, Arizona to Stan and Evelyn Newman. She was raised in Nyssa, Oregon along with her older brother Gary and younger sister Vicki. It was a time when friends and neighbors were like family, summers were spent swimming, and sitting down together at the dinner table was meaningful. Annual family vacations to McCall and a home filled with good friends were highlights of growing up in the Newman household.

Sharon graduated from Nyssa High School in 1962 before attending Oregon State University, where she met her lifelong friend Holly Meyer. In 1964, she met and married Charles F. Binder, and together they raised two children, Michelle and Lance on their ranch in Ontario, Oregon. Nieces and nephews looked forward to the fun of being at the ranch every weekend for cattle drives, family dinners and playing outdoors for hours. She and Charles lived on the ranch for nearly 50 years.

After her children started school, Sharon began working at the Vogue Dress Shop in Ontario, where her love of beautiful clothes made this a perfect match. In 1978, she began working at Treasure Valley Community College and later accepted the position of Executive Assistant to the President, and subsequently worked with four presidents throughout their tenures. Sharon was the longest tenured assistant in the college’s history, filling the position for more than 20 years. As retirement neared, she accepted a part-time position at the switchboard and worked until her illness in 2012.

Sharon loved having Sunday dinners and holiday celebrations with her children and grandchildren, who nicknamed her Granny-Tanny. She looked forward to her annual Florida vacations with her siblings and good friend, Pamela Bybee. She and Charles purchased a beautiful home in the Boise foothills in 2013 and celebrated 50 years of marriage in December 2014.

Sharon was preceded in death by her mother, and is survived by her husband, Charles; daughter, Michelle; son, Lance; grandchildren, Cameron Kinzer, Tennille (Darren) Burton, Taylor Higgins and Braden Binder; her father, Stan (Rose) Newman; brother, Gary Newman and sister, Vicki Binder, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Cloverdale Memorial Park.
