Beloved Daddy (to Jean, Janet and Judy) and Grandpa (to Marianne, Heather, Jonathan, and Daniel) We Miss You!

Emerson was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts; to John and Sadie Roylance

Married Irene on October 31, 1936 in Miami Florida, 45 years.

A resident of Manhattan Beach, and Redondo Beach.
Emerson had 3 daughters: Judith, Eleanor, and Janet. Four grandchildren: Jon, Marianne, Dan, and Heather. And three great grandchildren: Chloe, Melanie, and Melissa.

Emerson played semi professional baseball in Florida, and harmonica in a band. He served in the Navy, in WWII. Discharged with rank of Seaman 2nd Class on November 13, 1945.

Grandpa did collision and body work for many years, and retired from Cormier Chevrolet in Long Beach (just before his illness got worse)..and he expertly built custom ship models in his retirement.

My grandparents were actively involved members of Journey Of Faith Church, Manhattan Beach... and South Bay Bible Church, Redondo Beach.
Emerson and Irene were able to go to Europe, and visit the Bahamas. Both trips were a great highlight in their lives.

I can't put into words how special my Grandpa is. He had an awesome personality, and he knew a lot about sports. I would sit with him when we visited, and he would explain about the rules (and ins and outs) of a particular game on TV. Grandpa had a warmth and ease about meeting people and was well liked in all that he became involved with. Up until the time that lung disease took over, he was always fit and athletic. However, he smoked. And the only way that stopped the habit was to find out from his doctor that he had emphysema. This was the most heart wrenching news for our family, and he endured this horrible disease for thirteen years.
