Mother Laid Tenderly Away
Funeral Service on Sunday are Largely Attended

The funeral services of Mrs. R. Keller were held at the Christian Church last Sunday and were conducted by her former pastor and friend, Rev. Robert Lewis, of Linden, Iowa. The church was filled to its capacity, friends from all around being present to pay the last tribute of regard to one whose memory is suggestive only of kindness, affection and of good deeds beyond number. Rev. Lewis spoke feelingly from Psalms 119 and 19: "I am a sojourner in the earth: hide not Thy commandments from me." The music was by a special choir.

March 25, 1915 Obituary

Rebecca E. DeBolt was born in Licking County, Ohio, August 19, 1845. On September 29th, 1870 she was united in marriage to Abraham H. Keller and to this union six children were born, three sons and three daughters. Of these Clyde Keller and Mrs. Viola Bolton reside at Carson. Mrs. Inez Diamond lives at Auburn, Washington. Ben Keller resides at Carthage, South Dakota and Oliver Keller has resided for the past several years at Denton, Montana. The remaining daughter, Mrs. Maud Pettit was called away October 31, 19--. Of the five children now living all were present except Mrs. Diamond who was unable on account of the long distance to reach here in the brief time allowed.

After ten years of wedded life in Ohio the family came to Iowa arriving here in December 1880. The first winter was spent with Mr. Henry Ayers in Mills County and the following spring Mr. Keller settled on the place, three miles east of Carson still called the Keller farm and now owned by Bert Bolton. This was their home until after Mr. Keller's death which occurred October 13, 1895. Mrs. Keller afterward left the farm and with the exception of a short residence at Linden, Iowa she has made her home in Carson.

At the age of eighteen she was converted to the Christian faith and was a member of the Baptist Church. After coming to Iowa she with her husband united with the Christian Church at Wheeler and for many years they were among its most active and faithful workers. In the words of her pastor "She was a true and faithful wife, a good watchful, careful mother, a kind and sympathetic friend and neighbor. Always true to her religious faith and convictions. She will be greatly missed by many in this life, but greeted by many dear ones in the next".

The loved remains were laid tenderly to their long rest beside those of her husband in Carson Cemetery.
