DUDLEY BENEFIEL - Dudley Benefiel, 71, of Hagarstown, died at 1:45 p.m. Friday, April 1, 1977 in the Fayette County Hospital Nursing Home, Vandalia.
Funereal services were held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Mother of Dolores Catholic Church in Vandalia with the Rev. Fr. Charles Sellers officiating. Rosary was said Sunday night at Beery and Holt Funeral Home, Vandalia. Burial was in Fairlawn Cemetery.
Mr. Benefiel was born in Shobonier, son of Walter and Lillian Hunt Benefiel. He married Ella Klukis on Sept. 26, 1928 in Shobonier.
Surviving are his wife; son, Jack of Bethalto; daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Stonecipher of Centralia; brothers, Clarence of Lowell, Ind., Albert of Huntsville, Mo., and Edward and Kenneth, both of Sullivan; sister, Mrs Della Gibbs, of Chicago; and six grandchildren.
One son, Sgt Dudley James Benefiel Jr. died in Vietnam in 1969, and one sister also preceded him in death.
