Gilliland, M. Joan (Beck) 82 of Altoona died February 1, 2016 at UPMC Altoona. Born January 20, 1934 in Gallitzin the daughter of the late Fred J. Sr. and Mary Carolyn (Sheridan) Beck.
Preceded in death by sisters, Leanne Bender and Peggy and brothers Fred J. Jr. , Philip and Thomas.
Survived by children: Kay Canham – Gordonsville, VA; Karen Messina – Randolph, NJ; Neil (Laurie) Travelers Rest, SC; Amy (Stephen) Becker – Altoona; P. Joseph (Pennie) – Strasburg, VA. She liked her cat Puss Puss. Joan served in the Women’s Army Corp. She worked as a Property Manager for Coverstone IV Apts. In Manassas, VA. She taught music, a member of a jazz band “Starliters”, played piano and key board, like to read, doing crossword puzzles, traveling, swimming and especially her family.
