Born June 8, 1924 in Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Alfred Summie Canipe and Florence Costner Canipe.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary Glenn Icenhour; three sisters: Mattie Canipe Hoyle, Vangie Canipe , Ola Canipe Newton; three brothers: Robert Earl Canipe, Edward Canipe, Dennie Canipe.
A member of Viewmont Baptist Church, Ruby loved her family dearly. She also loved flowers, playing bingo, and played basketball while in school, and has been an avid fan of the game throughout her life. She had worked at both Burke Hosiery Mills and J.P. Stevens.
She is survived by two sons: Jerry Lee Icenhour and wife Lori Sigmon Icenhour, Terry Scott Odom and wife Kathy Hass Odom; one daughter, Phyllis Canipe Seale and husband Jim Seale; daughter-in-law, Karen Icenhour; granddaughters: Scottie Odom Powell and husband Jonathan Michael Powell, Lisa Leigh Seale, Candace Icenhour Banks and husband Zack Banks; two grandsons: two great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Viewmont Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Rogers and the Rev. Sandi Hood officiating. Burial will follow in Casar United Methodist Church Cemetery.
