Delette Emma Corbin was born on August 4, 1851 at Potterville, Bradford County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Gerl and Elizabeth Newcomb Cook. In 1860 she married John LeRoy Corbin. They lived in Athens, Pennsylvania and Towanda, Pennsylvania and later they lived din Homer and Syracuse. For the last 20 years she lived with her children in West Springfield, Massachusetts; Wellesley, Massachusetts and the District of Columbia. She was a member of the West Springfield Congregational Church. She died at age 77 on Friday night, November 9, 1928 at 3020 Tilden Street Northwest, Apartment 202, Tilden Gardens, the home of her son, William Lee Corbin, who was a librarian at the Smithsonian Institution. She had been in ill health for some time. Survivors included one daughter, Mrs. John R. Fausey of West Springfield, Massachusetts; two sons: Frederick Douglass Corbin of White Plains, New York and William Lee Corbin and one sister, Mrs. Fannie M. Carey of Atlantic City, New Jersey. Funeral services were held at the home of her son in Tilden Gardens. Interment was at Rock Creek Cemetery.
