John, 90, Columbus Grove, died at 4:38 a.m., at St. Rita's Medical Center.

He was the son of Freeman and Edna F. (Kohli) Samsal. On Jun 2, 1949, he married May F. Gagnon, who preceded him in death.

Surviving are two sons: Douglas (Jodi), Wellston, MI, and Greg (Mickey), Dryden, Ontario; a sister, Jeanette Downing, Columbus Grove; and three grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Deceased are two brothers linked below; two sisters: Alice (Kenneth) Sommers and Dorothy (Med) Jones, (Lowell) Moore; and brother-in-law, Fred Downing.

He attended Columbus Grove High School. He was a member of the St. John United Methodist Church, Columbus Grove. He was a life long farmer. His most favorite activities included farming, working his crops, talking to other farmers about farming and driving thru the country checking the area farms. He loved to hunt, fish and travel to Canada each year to the Lake of the Woods, where he had met his loving wife, May.

Services will be at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, with Rev. Brett Kelly officiating with burial to follow in Truro Cemetery, Columbus Grove.
