There are no known sources for George Henton's birth date or exact birthplace. 1680 is a very rough approximation for the year. His will was proved in court on 19 November 1747 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. George would have died before that date.

There is an author who has has made the claim that George Henton's wife had the maiden name of Persis Haddar. The author is not a genealogist, nor is he a very crediblee historian. He has made many claims about various Boone descendants based on supposed information from living Boone descendants, and he refuses to name them or to at least provide photo copies of his evidence. He claims that he received information about a marriage record in England concerning a George Hinton and a Persis Haddar, and he further claims that he has viewed the original record.

The author arrogantly uses the surname "Hinton" for George Henton and all of his descendants. His writing openly shows a genuine disdain for any Hentons who believe that Persis might be closely related to George Boone II, the grandfather of Daniel Boone .

What about this supposed marriage record? Does it prove anything? No legitimate genealogist would make that case. A 300-year-old marriage record from England in of and by itself proves little or nothing. There were many men named George HINTON living in England in that era, and several named George Henton too. I did research on Ancestry that proves that Persis was a fairly common name for a woman in England at that time. Unless someone has genuine strong corroborating evidence that the George HINTON who married Persis Haddar is the same man as the George HENTON who settled in Pennsylvania in the early 1700's, then there is nothing valid about this claim.

by Kevin Conner, a descendant of George Henton and his wife Persis, and their son Thomas as his wife Ann Yarnall.

George is said by the "Boone Society" to have been born in Liverpool, Lancashire, England. This is actually an area that developed after the industrial revolution (circa 1860). Prior to that it was the County Palatine of Lancaster (abbrev. Lancs), a county in the north west of England. Of course that is not available on the drop down list, so I have gone with the later Lancashire name. In all fairness, his area could have been called Yorkshire for a time.

The above birth date for George is based on other family research. I have not seen a source document.

In the early Pennsylvania records of immigrants shipping from England and Wales, George's surname is spelled Henton.

In the "U.S. And International Marriage Records" that are provided online, the couple's marriage is said to have been anywhere from 1714-1719. As we know, that source is a compilation of years of "family files" that may or may not have had an actual original document to reference. Some are based from when children were born, etc.

When he died in 1747, George's Last Will speaks of his wife Persis. The date of it's reading was November 19, 1747, so now everyone is putting that date as his death date. Obviously they didn't read his Will on the date of his death. It is reasonable to believe that since it was read in November, George died within a couple of weeks to a month or two prior to that, depending on when the estate handlers got the property organized and everyone notified and together for the reading.
