Born in Greenville County, SC, he is the son of the late Vance Grady and Jessie Davenport Cooley. Mr. Cooley retired from Platt Saco Lowell Hollingsworth after 43 years. He was a US Air Force Veteran, and attended Easley First Wesleyan Church.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his brothers, Grady, Kenneth, Leon, and Ronald.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Gaylene, of 57 years, are his sons, Phillip Cooley (Mandy) and Keith Cooley (preceded by his wife Alesia) all of Easley; two sisters, Sylvene Massey (Horace) of Greenville, and Linda Oliver of Piedmont; one brother, James Cooley (Wanda) of Piedmont; four granddaughters, Ashley Brown (Dustin), Brittany Posey (Jake), Kristen Traber (Will), and Emily Cooley; great-grandchildren , Peyton, Preston, Brooklyn, and Axel.
Ed was a gentle soul who loved his family dearly. He will be missed greatly.
