She was born on March 4, 1924, in Sandyville, WV, daughter of Ernest and Minnie Angus, the oldest of six children.
Ruth was a graduate of Gilmore High School. She was a child of God and impacted many lives throughout her faithfulness to our Lord and her dedication to his service. She touched countless lives throughout her service as Sunday school teacher, youth leader, pianist, organist, choir member, children’s church leader, local mission worker and many other aspects of the church. Ruth was also a member of the Jackson County Senior Choir.
Ruth, also known as “Grandma Ruth”, volunteered countless hours over the last 23 years to Gilmore Elementary School through the Foster Grandparent Program. In 2009, she received the Governor’s Service Award for her work mentoring the students of Gilmore. She had a giving heart and was always looking out for the best interest of others. Family meant the world to her. She will be GREATLY missed.
Ruth is survived by her son, Larry “Butch” (Rita) Pepper, and Lyndon Pepper; daughters, Judy (Jerry) Addison, and Sharlona (Duane) Morgan; grandchildren, Larry (Janette) Pepper, Scott Pepper, Colby (Misty) Pepper, Kiley (Merci) Pepper, Austin Morgan, Allisa Morgan, Arianna Morgan, and Allison Morgan; 8 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Morgan; and brother, Lewis Angus.
n addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Burhl Pepper; brothers, Billy Angus and Dennis Angus; and sister, Olive Angus.
A celebration service will be held at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, WV, on Friday, January 29, 2016, at 11:00 am with Reverend Fred Basnett, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow the service at Ravenswood Cemetery.
Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Thursday, January 28, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family will receive donations to purchase books for the Gilmore Elementary School, c/o Jerry and Judy Addison, 45 Dixie Lane, Ravenswood, WV 26164.
