BUFFALO NY SUNDAY MORNING NEWS SUNDAY, JULY 24, 1892 PAGE 7
Mrs. Whiley, who has the good fortune to have one of the pretty rooms in the Mills annex of the Home for the Friendless, made a beautiful silk quilt, which she presented to Mr. and Mrs. Mills as a token of appreciation of all that they had done for the comfort of the inmates of the Home. It took many, many stitches to complete the beautiful quilt with its rainbow hues. The recipients appreciated this and sent a pretty kindly note of thanks to the old lady whose nimble fingers had accomplished so much. The note was not the only thing they sent. Two shining golden coins, each an X, accompanied it and are being turned into furnishings for the bright little room. Already a pretty couch has been added and several little things that make the room more attractive than ever. (newspapers.com).
