"Penn Yan - William J. Hamm, 69, of 120 Wagner St. died Sunday (Dec. 16) at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Weldon Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 1 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Robert C. Lindsey will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Fund.

Mr. Hamm was born in Penn Van July 22, 1915, son of Tewalt and Carrie Eaves Hamm. He was a veteran of World War II having served with the Army. He was a member of the American Legion. He was a retired mechanic from Penn Yan Paper Products at Milo Mills. Surviving are his wife, Hazel; two sons, Claude of Penn Yan and Richard of Las Vegas, Nev.; one daughter, Mrs. William (Leanora) Ryan of Victor; one brother, Earl of Geneva; 12 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews."
