Berniece Rosaline (Garver) Drewel passed peacefully at the age of 96 on January 16, 2015 at Frene Valley in Owensville, MO. Berniece was born November 24, 1919 to August and Nora (Fuhring) Garver on the family farm in Royal, MO. On March 28, 1942, she was married to Delmar D. (“Dink”) Drewel. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dink, brothers Leo, Leslie and Delmar, and sister Celeste. She is survived by her daughter Sharon McKinney and her husband James (“Porky”) of Bland, grandson Don McKinney and his wife Liz of Bowling Green, granddaughter Danielle Withouse and husband John of Bland, great grandson Tony Withouse of St. Louis, and brothers Everett Garver of St. James and August Garver of Rolla. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Berniece grew up on the family farm and attended the one-room school at Royal, graduating from high school in St. James. She married Dink, the love of her life, and they settled on a farm just north of Bland, where she lived for 71 years. Dink and Berniece were married for over 62 years. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Free Church in Bland. Berniece loved the farm life, and loved to garden and can the goodness of her garden. She worked for 42 years at Brown, International and DEB Shoe companies, retiring in 1984. She also loved to cook, and created many beautiful quilts and fancywork. She was also an avid game player, a favorite way of spending time with family and friends. She will be greatly missed by family and friends who loved her.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gottenstroeter’s in Owensville. Visitation will be Monday, January 18 at the chapel in Owensville from 4:00 to 8:00PM. The funeral will be held Tuesday, January 19 at Zion Evangelical Free Church in Bland at 11:00AM, with interment following at Old Bland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either Old Bland Cemetery, or Zion Evangelical Free Church.
