Elizabeth was the daughter of Samuel Winter and Elizabeth Philbrick of Groton, Mass. and Killingly, Connecticut. She was most likely born in Killingly, though her baptism on 7 Jan 1728 is found in the Putnam, CT church records. She was married in Killingly 1 Jan 1746/7 to Samuel CADY, the son of Stephen Cady and Abigail Lee of Killingly. She and her husband moved to Shutesbury, Mass., and raised a family of ten children. Following her husband's death, she went to live with family in Prescott, Mass., and died at the age of 103. Her daughter Abigail and husband Samuel Crossett were both buried in the Fish Hill Cemetery in Prescott, and it is likely that Elizabeth was buried in the same plot. She outlived eight of her ten children, and when it came time to bury her, her grandchildren probably did not erect a monument.

In 1939, when the Fish Hill Cemetery was being evacuated in preparation for flooding by a new reservoir, most of the remains were reinterred in the Quabbin Park Cemetery in Ware, Mass. When daughter Abigail and husband Samuel Crossett were moved, there were four "unknowns" buried in their plot, and the assumption is that Elizabeth was one of them. She is therefore being placed here, though no record has been found to confirm this.
