Abbie Briscoe Blagg, 87, of the Back Creek community, died Monday evening, Dec. 31,2001. She was a resident at the Oak Hill Center in Staunton. She was born at Valley Center on July 18,1914, a daughter of the late John H. and Nora Williams Briscoe. On Dec. 23,1950 she married Lawrence Hiner Blagg, who died Dec. 28,1999. She was a member of Beulah Presbyterian Church, Beulah Women of the Church, and the Highland Extension Homemakers for over 50 years. She was also predeceased by a sister, Llilian Briscoe Wagner, and a niece, Joyce Wagner Cox. She is survived by a nephew, John W. Wagner and his wife Paige of Staunton; two great nieces, Nancy Sweitzer of Monterey and Leisa Huffer of Churchville; and a great-nephew, Bill Wagner of Monterey. A funeral service was conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3 at Obaugh Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Ginn and the Rev. James W. "Bill" Moore officiating. Burial was in Monterey Cemetery.
