John Dison Ball served as a Private under the company commanded by Colonel Stokes in the Cherokee Indian Wars. He was also a scout and was honorably discharged at Newachota, Georgia on the 1st Aug. 1838. (He married Nancy Brown Ball on 24 Aug. 1866 near Milner in Randolph County, Al. They were married by Rev. Jesse Coats). John is buried in the Union Hill Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery, Part 2 in Randolph County, Alabama. His grave has a marker that has the name of Abner C. Ball on it. About a yr. ago a memorial marker for his service in the Cherokee Indian Wars was put on his grave. (JOHN DISON BALL IS My GRT. GRT. GRANDFATHER). His wife Nancy (Brown) Ball went to Texas & died there in 1919. She is buried at Padgett Cemetery in Young County, Texas.
