John R Kimmins died on January 11, 2016 at the age of 96.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, January 14, 2015 at Anna Street Church of Christ. Mr. Gene Shelburne and Mr. Lyndon Latham will officiate. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.

Mr. Kimmins was born on November 22, 1919 in Fannin County, Texas to Fred and Annie Kimmins. John graduated from Groom High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree from West Texas State University. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served three years during World War II.

While training as an officer in Cambridge, MA. on July 31, 1943 he married Margaret Ann Coffman, his high school sweetheart. After serving in the Navy, they made their home in Borger and Phillips, TX, for 41 years where he retired from Phillips Petroleum Company in 1984. In 1989 they made their home in Amarillo, Texas.

Mr. Kimmins was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Wayne Kimmins, Irvin Kimmins and Audel Kimmins; and one sister, Mary Pat.

He is survived by his wife Margaret Ann of 72 years; his son John Rick and wife Lynn of Katy, TX; his daughter Mary Ann Donaghe and husband John of Newnan, Georgia; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; as well as many other loving family members and friends.
