Rites For Crash Victim Held Here Tuesday
Funeral services for Fred Kimmins, principal of the school at Black, who was killed in a train wreck on a grade crossing Sunday afternoon at Black, were held at 3 o'clock Tuesday, December 5, in the Hereford Church of Christ with Minister L.C. Chapin officiating, assisted by Minister Hugh G. Murray, and L. Ramey, a life long friend of the family.
Pall bearers were Mitchell Jones and E.W. Woods of Canyon; Clyde Hays, Jess Hines and Tom Pressley, trustees of the school at Black E. Ramey of Hereford.
Interment was in West Park Cemetery.
Mr. Kimmins was born in Fannin County, Texas near Bonham, Jan. 12, 1887, being 52 years, 10 months and 21 days of age when his tragic death occurred. He was married to Miss Annie Barnett, December 25, 1909. To this union were born four sons and one daughter. Three of the sons are teachers in the public schools of Texas and John R. is a junior student at W.T.S.C., Canyon.
Mr. Kimmins has been a teacher in the public schools of Texas for 30 years. He was a member of the Masonic Order and was loved by all who knew him.
He became a Christian in early life. His home was a Christian home. All their children being Christians.
He is survived by the wife; four sons; E. Wayne of Perico, J. Irvin of Phillips, Audell of Dalhart, John R. who is attending W.T.S.C., Canyon; one daughter, Miss Mary Pat Kimmins of Black; one grandson, age 3, son of Mr. and Mrs. Audell Kimmins of Dalhart. His mother, Mrs. Mary Flup of Bonham, Texas, and four brothers.
Wayne Kimmins formerly taught school at Progressive, and J. Irvin Kimmins played softball here last summer, and was employed by Ireland Motor Co.
