Jackie E. Anderson, 56, Attica, passed away at the St. Elizabeth East Hospital, Lafayette, on Monday, August 10, 2015, at 9:18 p.m. following a short bout with lung cancer.
Jackie was born in Oneida, Tennessee on October 20, 1958. He was the son of the late Edgar and Frances Marie (Copeland) Anderson. He moved to Attica in 1965 and attended Attica High School. He joined the U.S. Army during the post Viet Nam era and served until his honorable discharge in 1979. At the time of his discharge he had attained the rank of Specialist 4.
After leaving the service he began working at Harrison Steel Castings Company from 1979 until his illness in May of 2015. At the time of his departure from Harrison Steel he was a furnace foreman.
Jackie enjoyed the outdoors and liked to raise a vegetable garden. He enjoyed the wildlife and like to watch birds, especially the cardinals and blue jays. Jackie enjoyed collecting guns as a pastime. He loved to tinker in his garage and you could always find him helping people by sharpening their chainsaws or assisting in other ways.
He married Linda M. Richardson on January 9, 1989 in Covington, IN.
He leaves behind his wife, Linda of 26 years; three sons, Jackie Junior Anderson and David Allen Anderson, both of Attica; Brady Stocker, serving in the U.S. Army; a daughter, Amanda Jones, Boswell; Katherine Smith, Attica; five brothers, Harry Anderson, Jamestown, TN; Benny Anderson, Missouri; Cliff (Brenda) Anderson, Jamestown, TN; Joe (Linda) Anderson, Jamestown, TN; Halk (Kim) Anderson, Attica; four sisters, Joan (Jim) Martin, Leesburg, IN; Julie (Ron) Reed, Fort Wayne, IN; Kay Hyso, Muncie; Mary Anderson, Elkhart; a niece, Dixie Mitten, Jackson, MO; five grandchildren, Taelor, Mabel, Clayton, Izzy and Loni.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Saturday, August 15th, from 2:00 p.m. until service at 4:00 p.m. with family and friends participating in the service. Military honors will be held at the conclusion of the service at the funeral home.
