Ernest Oather Shafer, 90, passed away Saturday night, January 09, 2016, in the Twin Lakes Rehabilitation and Care Center in San Augustine, Texas. Ernest was born in Victioria, Texas, to Oather Estes and Beulah Mae Stewart Shafer. He was in the United States Marine Corp. during World War II and the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Rockdale. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his sons: James Davis and wife Linda of Hemphill, and Ronnie Davis of Center, his daughter Donna Woods and husband Tim of Garden Valley, California, his 8 grandchildren, and his 5 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 12:00PM until 4:00PM, Thursday, January 14, 2016, in the Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr St. Hemphill, Texas. Graveside service will be at 11:00AM, Friday, January 15, 2016, in the Mount Hope Cemetery, in Henderson, Texas.
