The Honourable Roger G. Conant ( Q.C., B.A., L.L.B., C.D.) passed away peacefully at Mount Sinai Hospital on October 20, 2014 surrounded by his partner Linda Sully and his two sons Allan and Armand. Born on May 26, 1922 in Oshawa, he was the son of Ontario's 12th Premier Gordon D. Conant and Verna Conant (nee Smith). Roger is predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Frances. He is survived by his brother Douglas (Sydney); his daughters-in-law Lou and Jackie; grandchildren Robert (Vicki) and their daughter Katelyn and son Tyler; Thomas, Genevieve and Daniel; his step-children Jay Keith (Kate) and their daughter Carter and son Holden; Scott Keith (Tracy) and their son Owen and daughter Bronwyn; Troy Keith and his daughter Natasha; and Patrick Keith. Roger was a graduate of the University of Toronto and Osgoode Hall Law School. He served in the Infantry during WWII landing on the beaches of Normandy with the British Army (CANLOAN, South Wales Borderers) and rose to the rank of Major, awarded C.D. Roger was appointed to the District Court of Ontario in 1977 (now the Superior Court of Ontario). After retiring from the Superior Court, Roger was appointed to the Canada Pension Appeals Board. Roger was an avid sailor and a proud member of the Royal Canadian Yacht Club for over 70 years.
