ALBERT STURGEON IS SUMMONED BY DEATH

WIDELY KNOWN GILBOA TOWNSHIP MAN DIED SUNDAY AT AGE OF 68

Albert Sturgeon, 68, one of Gilboa Township's widely known and respected citizens, passed away at 5:20 o'clock Sunday morning at his home two miles northeast of the Bethany Chapel church, following a long illness.
Mr. Sturgeon, son of Sarah and Frederick Sturgeon was born at Rushden, England, and he was called to his heavenly home at the age of 68 years, 2 months and 28 days.
At the age of 16, Mr. Sturgeon left England in company with his grandmother and aunt leaving his parents, two sisters and three brothers and came to Flower, Ind. where he made his home with his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. John Gray of the Bethany neighborhood, who are now deceased.
At the age of 22, he united with the Bethany Chapel Christian church where he was an active and faithful member until the time of his illness.
In 1896, he united in marriage to Stella Lambert. To this union were born two daughters, one dying in infancy. He spent his entire married life on the farm, where he died, except 7 years they lived in Remington, Ind.
He leaves to mourn his loss the wife, one daughter, Dovey Johnston of near Goodland, Ind., three grandchildren: Harold, Lucile and Ione and his ever comforting son-in-law, Leslie. One sister, Mrs. Lizzie Underwood and one brother, Charlie, both of England and a host of other relatives, both here and in England, besides unnumbered dear friends.
One of Mr. Sturgeon's greatest disappointments was the day he had to give up his daily work and his place in the church he loved so well. He so enjoyed his work and tried so hard to always keep in mind God's will. "Sheaves after sowing; Sun after rain; Light after mystery; Peace after pain; Joy after sorrow; Calm after blast; Rest after weariness, sweet rest at last." "So keep your lamps all trimmed and burning, for it will only be a day and I will be waiting just inside the golden gate. So I'll not say goodbye, but just good morning."
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Mt. Gilboa Church by Rev. Grant Blackwood of Knox, Ind., and Rev. Silas B. Mullen of Lafayette, Ind. Burial in Gilboa cemetery.

Those from a distance who called and attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Cox and John Gray of Walkerton, Ind.; James Gray, Mrs. Linnie Osborn, Misses Ruth and Allie Wendt of Chicago, Ill.; Louis Lacost and Mrs. John Wolf of Kankakee, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kirkman of Attica, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. Homer Spenard of Lafayette, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Caster of Andrews, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. George Yeoman, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Ross of Huntington, Ind.; Mr. Charles Alson and Keith of Crown Point, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Nelson, Misses Frances and Ida Nelson of Delphi, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. James Nelson of Monticello, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. Andrew LaFountain and Mrs. Horace Hoover of Lafayette, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lynch and Mary Nell and Mr. Leroy Miller of Boswell, Ind.
