Major League Baseball Player. Born Clarence George Rautzhan, he was signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers during the 3rd round of the 1970 Amateur Draft. After producing two exceptional seasons in which he recorded 14 wins, he was promoted to the Major Leagues with the Dodgers on July 23, 1977. He yielded 4 wins in 25 games-played and experienced postseason action that year during the 1977 National League Championship Series against the Philadelphia Phillies, Rautzhan recorded the win in the game three of the series. The contest which was played on a Friday became known to Phillies' fans as "Black Friday" and swung the momentum of the series to the Dodgers who went on to win the pennant. He appeared in one game during the 1977 World Series. The following year (1978), the lefty provided a stable presence within the Dodgers' bullpen and recorded an impressive 2.93 ERA in 43 games that season. He contributed a second consecutive National League Pennant, as he pitched in one game during the 1978 NLCS and 2 games during the 1978 World Series. He was acquired by the Milwaukee Brewers during the 1979 season and was traded to the Kansas City Royals in late that year, however he retired prior to playing for them. After retiring from baseball, he was the proprietor of a hotel.
